5 Habits of Healthy People
Drink water first thing in the morning
When you sleep you become dehydrated. Hydrating first thing in the morning will give you a great head start on staying hydrated all day. Proper hydration also helps with proper digestion (it detoxifies the liver and kidneys, and carries waste away). Try for at least 16oz as soon as you roll out of bed.
Eat a diet rich in a variety of colors
Eat the rainbow...just not the SkittlesⓇ. Eating a variety of colored foods will ensure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals your body requires to function at its optimum level. Most of you daily vitamin A, C, and E requirements can be found most green foods. Green foods also contain mineral such as iron and zinc. In addition to A,C, and E, red and orange foods also contain a significant amount of potassium, vitamin K, and carotenoids.
Quit counting calories
When you stop eating processed foods and eat the right balance of protein, fat, and carbs, you will lose weight without having to count anything. Each meal should consist of protein, healthy fats, and carbs. Carbs from Vegetables are best for any meal before you work out; starchy carbs and grains are best eaten after you workout. Try a meal plan to help you stay on track.
Take time everyday to give attention to things you are grateful for
Spending time having positive thoughts has been shown to decrease and cause a healthy adaptation to cortisol (the “stress hormone”). Working out can also help you adapt to this stress hormone in a healthy way too. So, one thing to be grateful for: the ability to workout.
Have a schedule
Create a schedule and stick to it. Add the things you want to get done in, and follow through. Having a consistent routine will create healthy habits. Start out with small items and then add a new task on as soon as you feel the previous tasks have become automatic.
